Bio

My first experience in the writing world was as a cub reporter for the Bellevue, WA, Journal-American, covering weather (rain) and stock reports. I progressed to the college beat, and realized that writing (and rewriting) was definitely for me. I later earned a BS in American Studies and Journalism from Stanford University, and an MS in Journalism from Columbia University. At Stanford, I interned at KYUU-FM radio in San Francisco, where I was the “Culture Vulture” reporter on a late-night talk show.

I stayed in Manhattan after graduate school, working for the American Heart Association and conducting citywide campaigns for nutrition, exercise and fundraising activities. I developed the chapter’s first Video Annual Report. Later, I publicized a PBS series and worked on a TV documentary about Donald Trump, a true New York adventure. Afterwards, I joined the March of Dimes Campaign for Healthier Babies as a Senior Writer/Editor, composing speeches for spokespeople such as Beverly Sills, as well as prenatal health information, WalkAmerica materials, fundraising guidebooks and much more.

Returning to California, I became a Senior Editor for the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s EyeNet magazine, and developed an audio news series for MDs. Later, I spent several years as a Senior P.R. Associate for John Muir Health in the East Bay.

I currently have writing, editing and public relations clients including John Muir Health, CALSTAR, (the nonprofit air rescue organization), Moon Dance Baking, and an adventure book author. I write for Diablo Custom Publishing, the Contra Costa Times, and local magazines. My photographs have appeared in Diablo Magazine and are used by other organizations such as John Muir Health and the Stanford Alumni Association.

Some of my humor essays were recently published in The Fallen Leaf Anthology, which came out of the Write Retreat Stanford Sierra Camp.
